Waiheke Marina is a private company that has been involved with managing the development of this fantastic facility since the idea was first conceived in 2016.
The management team, comprising our General Manager, Berth Administrator and Dockmaster are led by Marina Director, Mark Schmack.
Mark has two decades of experience in the marina management industry. He set up and managed Orakei Marina and was directly involved in the development and construction of Waiheke Marina.
Tom is a Certified Marina Manager (via American Marina Institute), and has been involved in the marine business sector since 1991. He is an experienced marina developer and Marina Manager & Boatyard Manager with a strong track record in strategic planning, development and project facilitation.
Tom has previously managed Westhaven, Silo, Viaduct, Downtown, and Gulf Harbour marinas, and was also involved in the Americas Cup Village upgrade prior to the 2000 AC in the Viaduct. He has also held numerous marine governance roles - as a Board member for NZ Marine, Board & Chairman of the Marine Industry Training Organisation for NZ (NZMAC ITO) and actively involved in the Executive of the NZ Marina Operators association. Tom is one of two NZ representatives for ICOMIA International Marina Group (IMG), was on the Board of Directors for the Auckland Stop Over for the 2018 Volvo Ocean Race, and previously competed in the 89/90 Whitbread Round the world race.
Tom joins us from managing the Heron Marina Group, Swedish Floats marina pontoon manufacturing business, where he had a critical role in the manufacture of the large pontoons used to create Waiheke Marina.
Kitt Littlejohn is a lawyer and professional director. Kitt successfully represented the development company through the consenting phase of the project and is continuing his involvement with the development as an independent director and internal adviser.
