We’re thrilled to share that Waiheke Marina family has been honoured with three awards at the New Zealand Marina of the Year Awards.

Firstly, Waiheke Marina received the ‘Outstanding Initiative’ Award, recognising the remarkable achievement of building our 180-berth marina without dredging or reclamation. This approach has preserved the natural seabeds and coastal currents in Kennedy Bay, highlighting our commitment to environmental responsibility. Judges said that our 2,100sqm floating carpark and marina complex, developed in partnership with SF Floats and Heron Construction, sets a new standard for sustainable marina design.

We’re also delighted for Greg and the team at Heron Construction Company which was acknowledged with an Outstanding  Initiative Award for associate members of NZMOA, for its role in bringing this vision to life. Their expertise in creating the both world’s largest floating attenuator and New Zealand’s largest floating pontoons, was essential to the success of our project.

Finally, our co-director, Tom Warren, received the Individual Contribution to the Community Award in recognition of more than 30 years of outstanding support to the development and growth of the marina industry.

Organised by the New Zealand Marina Operators Association, these awards were established in 2018 to recognize and celebrate excellence in the marina industry.

Winners were announced at a formal celebration dinner held as part of the New Zealand Marinas and Boatyard Conference at Parliament House in Wellington on Wednesday, 11 September.

Five independent judges, alongside a team of industry experts, judged the programme, including Margaret Wind, Rebecca Hayter, Garry Lock, Matthew Woodley, and Brian Joliffe.
