A new Predictwind.com weather station has been installed at Waiheke Marina offering a view of Putiki Bay and beyond.
It also reports live wind speed and direction stats from within the bay, and updates every minute.
“The weather station is one of twenty around the Hauraki Gulf and it’s a great asset for both Waiheke Island locals maybe wanting come down and paddle or swim in the bay, and also for our customers,” says Tom Warren of Waiheke Marina.
“The visuals are high res, so you can see every ripple or white cap.”
He says that PredictWind.com is an Auckland owned company that was developed by sailor Jon Bilger through his work with the America’s Cup regattas and which is now an international success story.
“It’s remarkable technology and the ability to offer it here for the benefit of all Waiheke locals is fantastic,” says Tom.
