The marina will provide safe berthage for 180 berths along with public access to all its facilities: a pick-up and drop off-berth; pump-out facility; car park; café and function/meeting venue; an all-tide small boat launching deck; and storage for kayaks and SUPs.
With day (and overnight) berthage available for visiting trailer boats and fully serviced berths for renting, Waiheke Marina provides a whole new way for Auckland to visit Waiheke, and for Waiheke to access the Hauraki Gulf (check out our website for information about berth rentals).
We are inviting expressions of interest in some of the key facilities and services we believe will be desirable when we open for business later this year.
Marina café / function & meeting venue
Our café / function & meeting venue will be unique in the region. This floating, north facing, architecturally designed building with about 60m2 of interior floor area is set within a large deck area with direct access to the water.
We are looking for an experienced hospitality operator, preferably with local know-how and presence, to manage the café and function/meeting venue on our behalf. The space will soon be available for fitout & furnishing and we welcome collaboration with the new operator in the design/construction of the space.
The floating building will be on-site in early August and connected to services by the end of that month. Our goal is for the café to be finished and ready for opening by 1 December, to meet the summer season influx of berth holders and other marina users.
Our architects have prepared some concept information and images for a possible fit-out style that we are happy to share. We have also prepared a Waiheke Marina Café – Specification Document for parties interested in this opportunity. Please email office@wimarina.co.nz if you would like copies. Expressions of interest close on 4 August 2023.
Other services
Waiheke Marina will be home to 180 fully serviced marina berths that will either be occupied by Waiheke boaties or available to rent by visiting boaties.
The marina also has space available for trailer-boats to safely tie-up for a few days while their owners visit the island.
We are already getting enquiries about what services will be provided by marina management and think there is an opportunity to provide the following:
- Berth holder valet service (pick-up from and return to home)
- Vessel provisioning (food & beverage)
- Vessel cleaning and servicing
Other services/opportunities we think the facilities can support/provide include:
- Visitor taxi services
- Small chandlery
- Dive-bottle refills
- Personal watercraft rentals and tours
- Advertising
No doubt others will come to mind over time. We are interested in securing exclusive and non-exclusive relationships with local businesses to provide these sorts of services and goods to our berth holders and other visitors, including those who may wish to promote their services on the island at the marina.
The marina will be a gateway to and from Waiheke, and we are open to all ideas from local businesses interested in partnering with us to use this incredible facility to its full potential.
Get in touch with us at office@wimarina.co.nz to discuss your ideas.
