Locals and environmental advocates were concerned about the wellbeing of these very special birds during and after construction of our marina and as part of our resource consent, we have conducted regular monitoring over two years, both to make sure that they are continuing to use the breakwater, and that they are doing well.
We are pleased to report that the monitoring has confirmed the ongoing habitation of the breakwater by kororā for both breeding and moulting activities.
The ecologists have concluded that there has been no impact on kororā habitation, breeding and moulting activity on the breakwater and we invite you to read the full report, using this link.
